Soulmates Ventures proudly supported GreenHack 2024, a Sustainability Hackathon held on May 27-28 at Newton University in Prague. This event brought together innovative minds to tackle pressing environmental challenges through technology and creativity. As a partner for multiple years, we were thrilled to witness the incredible solutions developed by these talented individuals.
The event focused on issues like energy consumption, climate change, irresponsible production, the environmental footprint of AI technologies. We believe technology and a willingness to change our behaviors are key to solving these problems. The event had five tracks, five prizes, and over 100 hackers collaborating and competing. Team 42 London won 1st place with their augmented reality healthy shopping app, which also received the Soulmates Ventures Special Prize.
Their app addresses the common struggle of choosing healthy food options. Traditional nutrition labels are often hard to read and time-consuming. The winning app uses text and image recognition and an algorithm that combines health rating data and users’ dietary goals. Customers can point their phone at a product on a shelf and get a health score for the item.
GreenHack 2024, now in its fourth year, continues to bring bright minds together to create sustainable solutions.
